Telford-based replacement parts specialist IPS is launching a mobile consumables store.

The company already runs a successful nationwide fleet of spare parts vans, serving the plant hire and access rental sectors. It is now expanding into workshop tools, PPE and consumables. The first consumables van will cover the West Midlands, south-west England, and southern Wales, encompassing Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Swansea and Newport.

Kevin Shadbolt, Operations Director for IAPS Group which owns IPS, said: “We launched our own consumables range in 2015 in response to customer demand, and it has gone from strength to strength.

“Our parts vans help reduce down time and postage costs for hire companies, improving their efficiency and customer service. We see a similar opportunity for our consumables van to keep workshops fully-stocked and as productive as possible. If this first van is a success, then we will look at expanding the service across the mainland UK.”

IPS has recruited James Aston to develop sales in this region. James has significant consumables and parts expertise in the automotive sector, having worked for BMW and Mercedes in similar roles. Along with targeting the hire industry, James will also be seeking to grow business with garages and workshops.

“There is a gap in the market for this type of service to the automotive trade,” said James. “In my experience, a lot of garages rarely see the sales reps for consumables. We can do a better job of building relationships, understanding their needs, and supplying products at very competitive prices.”

The IPS consumable goods range includes: adhesive tapes, greases and lubricants, barrier cream, hand wash, air freshener, all-purpose cleaner, anti-freeze, dashboard wipes and plasters. Replacement parts and components include auto bulb kits, cables, hoses, tubing, grease nipples, universal joints, couplings, filters, clamps, fasteners, screws, welding rods, clips, pins and washers.

Hand tools on offer include: socket sets, wrenches, screwdrivers, bit sets, ratchets, flashlights, torches, step ladders and adaptors, plus power tools including air saws, air hammer/chisel, riveter and angle grinders.

The comprehensive PPE range features: 2-piece rain suits, hi-vis jackets, face masks, disposable overalls, gloves, ear defenders, 1st aid kit, goggles and safety specs, kneepads, safety boots and ear defenders. There is also a wide range of safety stickers and associated signage available.

IPS has more than a decade of experience in supplying replacement parts and is the official UK parts distributor for a number of manufacturers including Genie, Hinowa, Socage, Aldercote, Omme Lift, Youngman BoSS, Grove Manlift, Manitou, Pop-Up and MEC. It also offers a wide range of after-market parts for lesser-known brands and obsolete machines, sourced directly from the component manufacturers. Its team of experienced access parts specialists, coupled with a sophisticated parts database, ensure IPS can provide a high level of technical advice and support to customers.
