A specialist hire company has taken delivery of the first Hinowa TraXporter 2.5t tracked dumper to arrive in the UK.
Affordable Access Hire purchased the unit from APS - the exclusive UK Hinowa dealer - and immediately sent it out on hire. The tracked machine, which has a swivel skip and rotating driver console, is currently working on a contract to reinforce river banks as part of flood prevention work. It will then move onto a forestry contract at a designated Site of Specific Scientific Interest (SSSI).
Tony Thornton, founder and owner of Affordable Access, said: “We already have three tracked dumpers in the fleet but wanted to add a dumper that could rotate both the skip and the driver console. The TraXporter cost thousands of pounds less than anything else we could find - and yet is a very high quality machine, so it was a no-brainer for us."
“It has great ground clearance, a respectable top speed and is from a very well-regarded manufacturer, backed up with excellent after-sales support from APS.”
The Hinowa TX2500 TraXporter has a swivel skip which can be operated at the same time as the vehicle is in motion, an advantage over most of its competitors. It also has a 180° rotating seat and controls, so the operator can always face in the direction of travel. The dumper can carry 2,500kg and is rated for 1.49m³. Slewing the skip also enables efficient tipping from either side or the rear.
Tony added: “For many of our customers, minimising environmental impact on the terrain is critical. The TraXporter is the ideal machine for river bank reinforcement because the ability to rotate the skip and the driver console means the machine only travels back and forth in straight lines. This means there is no additional chewing up of the ground from having to turn the machine around at either end; it can be simply loaded, drive to the water’s edge and tip.
Based in Romsey, Hampshire, Affordable Access Hire specialises in supplying access platforms, vehicle and plant for rough terrain applications. It offers a wide range of 4x4, tracked vehicles and plant. The company has invested in a bolt-on canopy for the TraXporter’s skip, which will help with wood chip collection and distribution on the SSSI contract.
Designed for challenging ground conditions, the TX2500 has a top speed of 12km/h (7.5mph) and a powerful Kubota V2203-EU1 4-cylinder 35.9kW (48.8hp) diesel engine. The rubber tracks utilise two fixed and four floating rollers, for powerful and smooth traction. The operator is protected by an FOPS-approved cage and a safety belt. The simple controls include two levers for steering and a smooth accelerator pedal, as well as a one-touch parking brake.
Engineered for low whole life costs, standard features include self-lubricating, maintenance-free bushes. The engine layout is optimised for quick and easy access to maintenance points. The front lights are protected to minimise the risk of damage. Typical applications include horticulture, landscaping, agriculture, construction and estates management.
